Vimenti Celebrates Its Sixth Annual Breakfast and Introduces Mónica Puig as Its First Mission Ambassador

The organization highlights eight years of impact, with a 13-percentage-point reduction in poverty levels and greater economic mobility opportunities for families

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (October 22, 2026) – With results demonstrating how quality education, social accompaniment, and economic development opportunities can transform the future of families, Vimenti celebrated its sixth Annual Awareness and Fundraising Breakfast in the Atrium of The Mall of San Juan, under the concept “You Are the Key”.

The gathering brought together business leaders, strategic partners, donors, and community members committed to breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty in Puerto Rico. As part of the celebration, the organization introduced Olympic champion Mónica Puig as its first Mission Ambassador, adding her voice and career journey to Vimenti's efforts to expand the potential of children and families.

During the event, Vimenti presented results highlighting the impact of its Two-Generation (2Gen) integrated services model. In eight years, the organization has reduced poverty by 13 percentage points and unemployment among participating parents by 13%. Likewise, 73% of families report increased income, while students achieved 66% academic proficiency during the 2025-2026 school year.

These achievements are matched by a return of $3.41 in social and economic value for Puerto Rico for every dollar invested in Vimenti, reflecting the value of supporting projects that drive sustainable progress and strengthen the country's future.

“At Vimenti, we believe that where a child is born should not determine their future. Today, eight years later, we can show with concrete results that when quality education connects to family support and economic development opportunities, we can break barriers and open paths to social mobility. Behind every indicator are children who are learning, parents gaining access to employment opportunities, and families moving toward greater economic stability. These results confirm that change is possible when we work together and bet on the potential of every family”, expressed Bárbara Rivera Batista, co-founder and executive director of Vimenti.

Mónica Puig: A New Voice to Expand Vimenti's Impact

One of the morning’s most significant moments was the recognition of Mónica Puig as Vimenti's first Mission Ambassador. The Olympic gold medalist, whose career is distinguished by discipline, perseverance, and excellence, joins the organization to help raise visibility for its mission and inspire new generations to reach their full potential.

Representatives of Vimenti’s participating families presented Mónica with the recognition: a heart wall hanging crafted by Puerto Rican artisan Víctor Sosa, symbolizing this new partnership. The piece, incorporating Vimenti’s signature orange, represents love for family, culture, and Puerto Rico, as well as a shared commitment to opening doors to new possibilities.

“Every child and every family deserves a real opportunity to develop their potential. I am honored to be one of the keys that help open more doors to the future for Vimenti's families”, expressed Puig.

Rivera Batista noted that adding Puig is a strategic 'key' to expand the reach of the organization's mission.

“Mónica represents the values we want to inspire in our students: discipline, determination, and confidence in their capabilities. Her commitment will help us take Vimenti’s message to new audiences and mobilize more people so that our children and families have access to the opportunities they deserve”, added Rivera Batista.

Stories of Transformation and a Call to Action

For the sixth consecutive time, the breakfast featured Nicole Chacón as master of ceremonies and integrated the voices of students and families—the protagonists of Vimenti’s impact. Through audiovisual presentations, testimonials, and student musical performances, guests gained firsthand insight into how Vimenti’s model supports families on their journey toward stability, well-being, and economic mobility. The event also featured Daven Michaels of the San Juan Social Club, a Vimenti ally, along with members of the Board of Directors, partners, and private sector representatives supporting the organization's mission.

Under the theme “You Are the Key,” Vimenti invited attendees to recognize their power to become agents of change through donations, partnerships, and concrete actions that transform lives. As part of the experience, guests also learned about the construction progress of the Oasis Hub, a project marking a new phase in Vimenti’s growth and expanding impact.

“The transformation of Puerto Rico begins when we decide to open opportunities for others. Every donation, every partnership, and every person who believes in our mission is a key to bringing us closer to a future where more families can thrive. Today we celebrate what has been achieved, but above all, we renew our commitment to what we can make possible together”, concluded Rivera Batista.
