The fourth edition of Vimenti Es Familia reaffirmed the importance of the comprehensive service model for the development of children, youth, and adults in Puerto Rico
Hato Rey, Puerto Rico (September 12, 2026) – Luis Muñoz Marín Park in Hato Rey once again became the setting for gatherings, smiles, and togetherness for over 600 families, employees, and allies of the Vimenti integrated service center, who celebrated the fourth edition of the institutional event Vimenti Es Familia.
'Seeing our families gathered, enjoying themselves, and celebrating the pride of being 'Corazón Naranja' (Orange Heart) confirms that true social development begins when we create spaces for healthy coexistence,' stated Wilfredo Damiani Echevarría, Director of Vimenti's Social Area. 'Reaching our fourth edition demonstrates the strength of the community we have built together'.
From a vision focused on community well-being and intergenerational comprehensive development, the Vimenti Es Familia family day offered a safe and festive space to strengthen the emotional health and quality of life of the families served by the center, including those from Manuel A. Pérez School, Berwin Intermedia School, Juan Ramón Jiménez School, Vimenti School, the Residential Ernesto Ramos Antonini, Villa Prades, among others. For the second consecutive year, the activity partnered with Alex DJ and the Puerto Rico Gana team, who energized attendees through competitions, traditional games, and prizes of up to $1,000, making the celebration one of the most acclaimed moments of the day.
“Vimenti Es Familia is a spectacular event for the whole family to enjoy. That is the most important thing for us. The event was a success; we loved it,” expressed Alex DJ. “We left this activity super pumped up seeing the enjoyment of the children, youth, adults, seniors—everyone together as a family. Both the Puerto Rico Gana team and I bring the entertainment, but we also get entertained. We had a great time,” he highlighted.
The event's program combined recreation, culture, and comprehensive health. Attendees enjoyed attractions such as climbing walls, inflatables, artisans, and entrepreneurs. The educational and cultural offerings were led by the educational concept Parques Imaginarios, featuring storytelling readings and special dynamics for all audiences. Vimenti's partner organizations also had informational tables about their resources and opportunities, such as Project Makers, PR Animals, the Nursing School of the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, and Oasis 360. The event also gave Vimenti families and participants space to market their products and services, such as Cuquis Afternoon, Florece por Celinda, and Greyshla’s Cooking & Pastry.
“My business is a catering service, but I offer desserts for all types of events,” explained Greyshla Cruz, owner of Greyshla’s Cooking and Pastry. “I joined Vimenti when my daughter started school, then I participated in the Programa de Empleabilidad y Carreras and was in Project Makers. I finished my senior year thanks to that process, and then I completed my studies in culinary arts and international pastry. Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table. I am extremely grateful and enjoying this family day,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Bárbara Rivera Batista, co-founder and executive director of Vimenti, emphasized the value of the Two-Generation Model: “Putting the family at the center of everything we do means accompanying mothers, fathers, grandparents, girls, and boys on their journey toward self-improvement, while also offering them unforgettable moments of recreation. This fourth Family Day renews our commitment to continuing to provide tools for education and economic mobility for the future of Puerto Rico.”
In its eighth year of operation, Vimenti has achieved significant progress in its mission to eradicate childhood poverty in Puerto Rico through family economic mobility. During the past fiscal year, the organization reduced participants' poverty level by 5%, enabled 12% to reach the well-being level in their assessments, achieved academic success for 66% of its students, and served 102,744 meals.
