San Juan, Puerto Rico (April 3, 2024) - Puerto Rico stands at a pivotal moment in its history, poised for economic resurgence. With over $169 billion in federal recovery and infrastructure funding committed, the island has a unique opportunity to leverage these resources for widespread prosperity. To harness this potential, Platform for Social Impact (PSI) proudly announces the NEXA: Jobs, Impact Investment Summit, scheduled for April 10-11, 2024, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The NEXA Summit brings together a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Lisette Nieves, President of the Fund for the City of New York; Joan Larrea, CEO of Convergence; Colleen Malloy, Senior Business Development Manager of Coursera; Cristina Shapiro, Chief Strategy Officer of Impact Fund UNICEF; and Mathieu Stevenson, Head of Impact and Strategy at the Dell Foundation. These visionary leaders will converge in San Juan to craft strategies to invest in workforce development and foster equitable economic growth across Puerto Rico.
'NEXA: Impact Investment Summit focuses on workforce development as a pillar to promote economic development in Puerto Rico,' said Eduardo Carrera, CEO of PSI. 'This invite-only event offers participants access to the full spectrum of impact investment and policy leaders dedicated to advancing meaningful social change.'
The summit will address Puerto Rico's unique challenges head-on, with a focus on creating high-quality jobs that cultivate human capital through skill development and Human Infrastructure Investment. Discussions will encompass blended finance programs for social impact investors, strategies to engage 'opportunity youth,' and coordination of academic research on social mobility in Puerto Rico.
While centered on Puerto Rico, the insights and solutions developed at the NEXA Summit will serve as a valuable resource for communities nationwide facing similar socioeconomic challenges.
'At the heart of the NEXA Summit is the belief that economic prosperity should be accessible to every individual, family, and community. By attending, we join a movement that champions community upskilling through innovative technology, braided funding models, and collaboration at both national and local levels. The Summit is a convergence point for forward-thinkers to exchange ideas and success stories, paving the way for a future where learning, employment, and entrepreneurship are accessible to all,' added Kristina Francis, Executive Director of JFFLabs.
